German States Württemberg. Friedrich I Taler 1812-ILW MS64+

German States
Württemberg. Friedrich I Taler 1812-ILW MS64+ NGC, Stuttgart mint, KM522, Dav-945, Thun-426. A relatively scarce issue of this vintage, with only a handful of any 1812-dated denominations having been seen by either major grading service. Featuring a bust of Friedrich I almost reminiscent of later George III busts and illuminated by an aurous glow. The reverse faces up especially fine and confirms NGC's assignment of such an advanced designation, the stag and lion motif appearing noble and mark free. With a paucity of auction records for comparable quality in recent decades coupled with this Taler's sole "top pop" status, we anticipate fervent bidding when crossing the auction block. From the Cape Coral Collection, Part II
