Approximately 56 pieces in lot. Nearly all different collection of mostly Imperial coinage, including many different denominations and dates. The best pieces include a 1775 Siberia 10 Kopek in Very Fine or slightly better, a 1799 Paul I Ruble in nearly Fine, 1772 Catherine II Ruble in Fine, and a beautifully toned 1820 Poltina in Extremely Fine. Other notable issues include a nice run of 2 Kopeks with dates 1759, 1763, 1797, 1812 and 1813 with several quite choice for the issue. Half a dozen big coppers like an 1833-EM 10 Kopek in Choice Very Fine, as well as 5 Kopeks dated 1776, 1831, 1833, 1838 and 1859. Fewer than a dozen of the coins are Soviet, all silver except the very best Soviet piece; a 1927 Half Kopek in Choice Uncirculated Brown. Additional Rubles include 1812, 1817, 1822, 1836, 1841, 1848, 1898 and 1921. Balance are split between silver and copper, with the majority showing at least some circulation. Most of the copper is original, with cleaning or other issues on several of the silver coins. Overall, a very appealing lot and a nice springboard into this area of collecting that is sure to provide hours of inspection and research. Retail value of about $2,500. Inspection advised.
