AIRWOLF (1984-1987) - "The Lady" Airwolf Helicopter 4.5-Foot Principle Filming Model - An Airwolf helicopter 4.5-foot principle filming model from Donald P. Bellisario's Airwolf. The Airwolf was an advanced stealth supersonic helicopter designed by the evil Charles Moffet (David Hemmings) and piloted throughout the series by Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent) and his crew, who nicknamed it "The Lady." Although a real Bell 222 helicopter was used for many of the show's flight sequences, model miniatures based on the Bell 222 were employed for the mountain hangar sequence seen throughout the series. This helicopter is constructed of paneled resin and metal painted dark green, khaki, and black with rotating red-and-silver-color striped rotors, a clear plastic windshield, and mesh grating over the body. The cockpit contains the upper half of a pilot model miniature figure made of plastic supported by a block of foam. Following production, the model underwent sympathetic restoration to repair breaks in its propellers, tailfins, and stabilizers. The interior of the helicopter houses a motor, but its functionality remains untested. It exhibits a coat of grime, small fractures in its paneling, and yellowing to its plastic elements from age and storage.
