Lincoln Cents
1916-D 1C MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Whispering Pines. While PCGS lists a trio of 1916-D cents in Superb Gem Red condition, this MS66+ Red coin is nothing to shake a stick at, and it is firmly within the Condition Census. Vivid fire-orange luster with bright, satiny luminance adorns each side, complementing an overall sharp strike. Some die erosion in the fields on both sides hardly affects the sharpness, setting this piece apart from some of the other examples we have seen in the same grade which were struck from a heavily worn reverse die. A lone carbon fleck at the 7:00 reverse rim serves to trace provenance. Population: 26 in 66 (5 in 66+) Red, 3 finer. CAC: 5 in 66, 1 finer (11/24).
