Pocket watch: very fine unique enamel watch in the style of the painting of Blois of the 17th century. Koehn Geneve No.72362, almost identical with the Patek Philippe enamel watch No.76344 from 1887: Ca. Ø27.5mm, ca. 24g, 18K gold, No.72362, case maker's mark AE, special case without hinges, completely enamelled, finest enamel painting in the Watteau style, representation of a pair of lovers under a tree, mountain scenery in the background, completely removable movement, gold crown and bow, silver movement holder numbered 72362, glazed movement, fine lever movement, matching number to the case, original Louis XV enamel dial in excellent condition and pink gold Louis XV gold hands. The watch is in working order and in excellent condition, completely original and unrestored. It is an absolute rarity. The similarity to the Patek Philippe watches 84141 (shown in Huber & Banbery "Patek Philippe" page. 126, pic. 52C) and 76344 (https://www.cortrie.de/go/6vr) sold in one of our past auctions for 18,500€ is obvious. The unusual construction of the cases, the dials and the painting is very similar to all 3 watches. All watches have numbers close together. All movements have silver movement holders and can be completely removed from the case and are not hinged. It can be strongly assumed, that the same case maker made the two special Patek Philippe watches and the Koehn watch shown here. The fact that Eduard Koehn was director at Patek Philippe at the time of the production of these 3 watches also speaks for this. Eduard Koehn (1839-1908) went from a simple watchmaker to director at Patek Philippe. He was born in Germany and studied at the watchmaking school in Geneva. He started as a simple watchmaker with Patek Philippe and later became a partner. In 1891 Eduard Koehn bought the company H.R. Ekegren. The quality awareness he got during his many years at Patek Philippe was later reflected in his own products, which he designed and manufactured.

Ø27,5mm, ca. 24g, 18K Gold, No.72362, Gehäusemacher-Punze AE, Spezialgehäuse ohne Scharniere, komplett emailliert, feinste Lupenmalerei im Watteau-Stil, Darstellung eines Liebespaares unter einem Baum, im Hintergrund Berglandschaft, Werk komplett herausnehmbar, Krone und Bügel in Gold gearbeitet, Werkshaltering in Silber, ebenfalls nummeriert 72362, Werksverglasung, feines Ankerwerk, nummerngleich mit dem Gehäuse, originales hervorragend erhaltenes Louis XV Emaillezifferblatt und rotgoldene Louis XV Goldzeiger. Die Uhr ist funktionstüchtig und hervorragend erhalten, komplett original und unrestauriert. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine absolute Rarität. Die Ähnlichkeit mit den Patek Philippe Uhren 84141 (abgebildet in Huber & Banbery "Patek Philippe" Seite. 126, Abb. 52C) und 76344 (https://www.cortrie.de/go/6vr) verkauft in einer unserer vergangenen Auktionen für 18.500€ ist offensichtlich. Der außergewöhnliche Aufbau der Gehäuse, die Zifferblätter und die Malerei sind bei allen 3 Uhren sehr ähnlich. Alle Uhren haben nah beieinander liegende Nummern. Alle Werke haben silberne Werksfassungen und lassen sich komplett aus dem Gehäuse nehmen, also nicht herausklappen. Es ist sehr stark davon auszugehen, dass der gleiche Gehäusemacher sowohl die beiden speziellen Patek Philippe Uhren als auch die hier vorliegende Koehn gefertigt hat. Dafür spricht auch, dass Eduard Koehn zum Zeitpunkt der Fertigung dieser 3 Uhren Direktor bei Patek Philippe war. Eduard Koehn (1839-1908) brachte es bei Patek Philippe vom einfachen Uhrmacher bis hin zum Direktor. Er wurde in Deutschland geboren und studierte an der Uhrmacherschule in Genf. Danach begann er als einfacher Uhrmacher bei Patek Philippe und wurde später Partner. 1891 erwarb Eduard Koehn die Firma H.R. Ekegren. Das Qualitätsbewusstsein, das er sich in den vielen Jahren bei Patek Philippe aneignete, spiegelte sich später in seinen eigenen von ihm konstruierten und gefertigten Produkten wider.
