INDIA -- (BETHMANN HOLWEG, Th. v.). Letter, both in German and Hindi, in the form of an official document to "Seine Hoheit Maharaj-Adhirai Maharaval Sri Salivahan Bahadur". N.d. (= 1914?). Tog. (16) gilt edged lvs., w. cold. arms of Wilhelm II in places and with a paper stamped imperial seal - also w. the arms of Wilhelm II - attached to a cord in the imperial colours. Fol. Loose in purple silk cover in a richly gilt and blind tooled pigskin binder w. the coat of arms of Wilhelm II on the front cover. Both letters printed in red and black within a gilt ornamental border and with initials in red and brown. Interesting letter to the ruling Maharaja of Jaipur in which the diplomat Bethmann Hollweg tries to gain support for Germany against Great Britain. Signed by Bethmann Hollweg in black ink. Curious and luxurious document of which we could not find another copy.
