25 by 33 cm. 307 pages. Paperback in filled printed cover. Copy with wide margins, untrimmed. Cover faded. Ink stains on lower edge, but no damage to pages. 63 of 64 photos. Missing the photo Jeune fille de Fort-Lamy (II).
One of the LXXV reserved for the author (XXXIX), with an autograph dispatch from André GIDE to Docteur de Martel. This print was made before the book was put on the market, as indicated on a card enclosed with the copy.
Despite these flaws, an enviable book, particularly for the autograph letter from GIDE, and the quality of the photos by Marc ALLEGRET.
