SIERRA LEONE. Silver 100 Cents (Dollar), 1791. NGC PROOF-62.
KM-6; Vice-FT-2A. Struck at James Watt's Birmingham Mint for the Sierra Leone Company with a mintage of only 40 pieces in Proof. Produced in full presentation quality, with strong reflective gleam in the fields and vivid sharpness inside the focal lion design that runs through the sharply segmented dentils that frame the coin's edges. On both sides, pale peach and lilac tone compliments the appearance and although not severe, a few underlying instances of handling help determine the grade. Overall, quite a lovely example of this African crown-sized RARITY and considering its enduring popularity as a type, a piece that we expect will be among the most anticipated to cross the block in the entire sale.

From the Collection of Dr. James Eustace Bizzell, II.

Estimate: $8000.00- $12000.00
