RARE WW2 Third Reich Deutschland Erwache Banner. One of the most sought after and hardest to find

RARE WW2 Third Reich Deutschland Erwache Banner. One of the most sought after and hardest to find artifacts from the Third Reich era. Approximately 600 were produced in the 1930's. Research shows that only 32 are known today in museums and private collections worldwide. Each banner was dedicated by Hitler himself by holding it to the Blood Flag (Blut Fahne) from the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch. This particular example was the property of an SA Regiment. Physical description: The banner measures 75cm x 64cm. The body of the banner is made of a white linen liner to which a panel of red silk is applied to each side. The wording is embroidered in a fish tail pattern embroidery, "Deutschland Erwache" (Germany Awake) to one side along with along with "Nat. Soz. Deutsche Arbeitspartei" and "Sturmabteilung" to the other. A white silk roundal is applied on top of the red silk. Silver wire tresse borders the roundal. The swastika is of mutlipart construction with separate applied silver wire tresse and separate black braided edging. The grey/red/black fringes around the edge of the banner are made from wool. A hand sewn red leather reinforcement is fitted to the top of the banner to prevent damage against the pole when in use. A stitched tunnel is formed to allow the suspension pole to be passed through.
