1960 Austin Mini SevenReg. no. FSL 386Chassis no. A-A2S7-49952Engine no. BAM-U-H64142Transmission: ManualMileage: 683 (indicated) 57,098 previously on MOT historyThe Mini is a model and brand that needs no introduction, arguably it is the most iconic people’s car of all time. Produced by BMC, British Leyland and then Rover for 41 years, earlier examples of the Mini are becoming few and far between, offering unique differences compared to later models such as sliding front windows and single skin floor. This restored example, presented in gorgeous Speedwell Blue has resided in Wiltshire all its life. The build was completed on August 16th, 1960 and was originally supplied by S. & A. Fuller Ltd of Bath. It has been with its current owner since 1971 near Chippenham where it was first used as a run-around, but in more recent years, FSL 386 has been painstakingly restored with the help of world-renowned specialists Somerford Mini who have also given advice throughout the process. It has been dry stored when not in use and enjoyed on local weekend drives and taken to shows. The bodywork presents very well with just minor imperfections to some panels, on which a later coat of paint, remains strong. The underside remains as a single skin with jacking points in the sills, a feature of early models. The interior has never been painted and looks well for its age. The rest of the trim, seats, carpet and clocks are in excellent order with the clocks having been restored hence reading such a low mileage. It starts with ease and purrs on idle offering that memorable classic exhaust scent of a well-tuned carburettor. The owner reports that this Mini runs and drives exactly as it should and can be enjoyed by the purchaser straight away.Classic AA and BARC badges adorn the front grille, obtained when the owner used to take the car to watch racing at Castle Combe Circuit. The sale includes a large amount of documentation including the current V5C showing no previous owners and a heritage certificate as well as a quantity of receipts mostly from Somerford Mini. A copy of the original logbook is also included that was supplied by the DVLA. The original wheel repair kit and spare wheel are also present.Estimate: £20,000 - 22,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on July 1st at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU with viewing on the 29th and 30th of June, you can also join us at our Nostalgia Social cars & coffee event on June 25th.
