Together with Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia, it helped form the USSR in December 29, 1922. In 1936, each of its Republics – Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan became independent from the federation and became part of the Soviet Union as separate republics. The Federation’s capital was Tbilisi, and the official languages were Georgian, Azeri, Armenian and Russian.
