Albarello, Venice, late 16th-early 17th century


in majolica painted in full polychromy in the predominant tones of cobalt blue, yellow, ocher and green, with sinuous leaves, large corollas and berries: on the body, cylindrical and very tapered in the centre, they act as a background for two opposite oval medallions, each of which hosting the bust of a young man with a cap, highlighted by thin ocher lines to form a sort of sunburst. Modeled according to the typical characteristics of Mastro Domenego's workshop, the albarello has a large opening with a slightly everted profile, a short neck and a foot on a flat base, h. cm. 18.5. State of conservation: some chipping along the edges of the opening; minimal cracking on the base
