Barber Half Dollars 1893-S 50C MS65 PCGS. Augustus Heaton

Barber Half Dollars
1893-S 50C MS65 PCGS. Augustus Heaton published his seminal treatise on mintmarks in 1893, creating widespread collector interest in branch mint issues for the first time. The San Francisco Mint produced a modest mintage of 740,000 Barber half dollars that year, and it is possible that a contemporary collector obtained this delightful Gem directly from that facility. The 1893-S is a prime condition rarity in MS65 condition, and finer coins are virtually unobtainable.
The present coin exhibits sharply detailed design elements and lustrous, well-preserved surfaces with no mentionable distractions. Attractive shades of pink and golden-brown toning add to the outstanding eye appeal. Population: 8 in 65 (2 in 65+), 1 finer (12/24).
