A PATINATED RUSSIAN BRONZE FIGURAL GROUP
"A Speeding Troika"
Cast by C.F. Woerffel after a model by Vasiliy Grachev (1831-1905), late 19th century.
A beautifully modeled bronze figural group of a peasant's sleigh loaded with goods being pushed aside and nearly knocked over by a speeding "troika" (three). The troika drawn by three horses, the sleigh by a single horse, on a rectangular naturalistic base.
Signed "Grachev" in Cyrillic, inscribed "FABR.C.R.WOERFFEL ST.PETERSBOURG".
