1927 $20 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The Philadelphia Mint struck a large production of nearly 3 million Saint-Gaudens double eagles in 1927, with the coins delivered in 130 batches throughout the year. Many coins were used to settle large accounts in foreign trade and remained safely out of range of the mass meltings that followed President Roosevelt's Gold Recall of 1933. Accordingly, the 1927 is an available issue in high grade and one of the most popular type coins in the series.
