A Chinese export gilt decorated black lacquer tea chest, early 19th century, typically decorated with figures amid pavilions and trees, enclosing a pewter tea canister the cover engraved with four Immortals, 35 cm wide, including side carrying handles The gilding is generally very good on the box but there are some smaller areas of bubbling and flaking around the edges of the cover and the corners. The hinged cover of the pewter canister is bent in a little at the centre. Otherwise in good condition.
