Cai Xiaoli Blue Irises with Gold Painting


Cai Xiaoli (C.X. Li) (Chinese, b. 1956). Ink and natural pigments on rice paper painting titled "Blue Irises with Gold" depicting blue iris flowers, ca. 2003. Signed along the lower right. The flowers form a cluster along the lower right of the work, their graceful leaves bending out toward the edges. The background depicts abstract squares of yellow and pink. Provenance: Michael Goedhuis Contemporary, New York; The collection of Bruce Dayton and Ruth Stricker Dayton - Selections from The Marsh, Minnetonka, Minnesota. Sight; height: 32 in x width: 32 in. Framed; height: 36 in x width: 36 in. Condition: The artwork is in good condition. There are no areas of restoration visible under UV. The colors are bold and bright. The paper is hinged along the upper edge. Due to the nature of the paper, there are some tears along the extreme edges and possible losses. The frame has some wear.
