John II Comnenus (AD 1118-1143). AV hyperpyron (32mm, 6h). NGC Choice VF 4/5 - 2/5, edge crimps, scratch, graffito. Constantinople, AD 1118-1122. IC-XC (barred), Christ seated facing on backless throne, wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium, and colobium, raising right hand in benediction, cradling book of Gospels in left arm / + Iw ΔΕCΠΟΤΗ, facing half-length figures of John II (on left), wearing loros and crown with pendilia surmounted by cross, akakia in right hand, and the Virgin (on right), nimbate, wearing pallium and maphorium, left hand raised in benediction, both jointly holding long patriarchal cross between them with inner hand; manus Dei above John, ΘV (barred)-MHP (barred) in fields around Virgin.
