Serial Number 1 Falkland Islands Government of the Falkland Islands 5 Shillings 12.1.1901 Pick A1 PMG Very Fine 30. The first series of Government notes from the Falkland Islands are incredibly rare in any format. This initial denomination printed in green is seldom seen, as a mere 2,000 notes were printed. This exceptional example features the very first serial number, A/1 00001. At the time of cataloging, this note is the single finest of only two issued notes graded in the PMG Population Report. The back is annotated "from J.J. Felton to Mansell Esq. Gallegos," inscribed by John James Felton, who was a prominent farmer, Justice of the Peace, and member of the colony's Executive Council. We have not offered this type in the past and this represents an incredible opportunity to acquire the very first serial number for the design.
