BERNOUILLI DANIEL: (1700-1782) Swiss Mathematician and Physicist. Best remembered for his pioneering work in probability and statistics. His name is commemorated in the Bernouilli´s principle related to the conservation of energy. Very rare A.L.S., Daniel Bernouilli, one page, 4to, Bale, 7th July 1748, in French. Bernouilli thanks his correspondent and colleague for his support on the occasion of his new appointment, stating `The honour of being appreciated by the most illustrious Company of the world is, no doubt, priceless to any sensible man to glory.. to know that you have participated in my election, having no doubt that you contributed to it..´ With blank integral leaf.
