A BLUE AND WHITE 'GUAN' IN YUAN STYLE
China, probably Qing dynasty

The sturdly-potted baluster body rises from a projecting foot to a short, straight neck with slightly projecting rim, painted all around in bright cobalt blue with four fish swimming in a pond amidst large blooming lotus flowers and various aquatic plants, the vivid scene decorated with floating butterflies, the neck surrounded by wavy crests, the rounded shoulder with large peony and lotus flowers supported by a continuous leaf scroll, all above stylised upright petals, wide foot ring and recessed base.

Schultertopf 'guan' im Yuan-Stil

Der robuste Balusterkörper steigt von einem ausladenden Fuß zu einem kurzen, geraden Hals mit leicht ausgragenden Rand, der rundherum in leuchtendem Kobaltblau mit vier Fischen bemalt ist, die in einem Teich inmitten großer, blühender Lotusblumen und verschiedener Wasserpflanzen schwimmen, wobei die lebhafte Szene mit schwebenden Schmetterlingen verziert ist, Der Hals ist von Wellenkämmen umgeben, die abgerundete Schulter mit großen Pfingstrosen- und Lotusblüten, die von einer fortlaufenden Blattrolle getragen werde, alles über stilisierten aufrechten Blütenblättern, breiter Fußring und vertieften Boden.
