A SMALL JADE PENDANT DEPICTING A COILED DRAGON, EASTERN ZHOU
China, Eastern Zhou, 4th-3rd century BC. Finely carved as a sinuously coiled dragon, its body gently curved forming an arch and each side decorated with small spiral-commas (guwen) in relief. The opaque stone with calcification and of a beige tone.
Condition:
Good condition with little wear, nibbling to the edges, few minuscule chips here and there, and soil encrustations.
Provenance:
Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
