Josip Broz Tito was the leader of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, becoming Prime Minister, then President, of Yugoslavia and leader of the League of Communists. His influence was widely felt in the country and is known as "Titoism". Tito got his start in revolutionary politics while participating in the Russian Revolution, later during World War II he was leader of the Partisans, regarded as one of the most effective resistance movements against fascism in German-occupied Europe, which gave rise to his political leadership in Yugoslavia. Famously his defiance of Stalin led to Yugoslavia's expulsion from the Eastern Bloc and the formation of the "Non-Aligned Movement".
