Large Cents 1796 S-103 R4+ Draped Bust with LIHERTY Error, AU

Large Cents
1796 S-103 R4+ Draped Bust with LIHERTY Error, AU Detail, Surfaces Smoothed, PCGS. A very sharp cent that was lightly burnished and nicely retoned glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter brown in protected areas on the reverse. There is a trace of extremely fine roughness hidden in the hair left of the neck, a tiny dimple on the jaw, a small flake under the eye, and a pit or small punch mark in the dentils over the left side of the Y in LIBERTY. EDS, Breen state I. The die crack through AMERIC is faint. Graded EF40 net VF20 and CC#7 in the Noyes census, his photo #22397. Bland says AU50 net VF35 and CC#6. This cataloger's EAC grade is net VF35. A very attractive cent in spite of the defects, and the LIHERTY error is bold. Comes with a very nice provenance. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. 35882.98/47250189.
