Rene Lalique (French, 1860-1945) Original Cast Metal Architectural Element, Nude

Remarkable details in this cast metal relief sculpture with brown patina composition designed by Art Nouveau and Art Deco master craftsman Rene Lalique. He has depicted a female nude holding a tree branch that forms an arch above her head. The leaves mesh with her hair and her transparent veil form a dynamic composition of curvilinear forms. The female nude is akin a Classical naiad on the verge of entering a body of water. This exceptional quality piece was acquired directly from the private collection of the descendants of Rene Lalique and has never been offered publicly.
