A cased George Gibbs double barreled rifle dating: 1875-1890 provenance: England, Heavy, round, rifled (of 76 cm), cal. 460 barrels, with remains of finishing; rib with fore-sight, one fix rear sight and two with foldaway sight-leaf, marked '200' and '300', marked 'METFORD'S PATENT, 424. GEORGE GIBBS, CORN STREET BRISTOL' at the base. Some sign of use inside, visible groove. London test-bed stamps in the lower part. Receiver and locks finely engraved with rinceaux, plates with bandeau 'GEORGE GIBBS', provided with external safety locks for cocks. Rear tang engraved with rinceaux as well. London test-bed stamps. Briar-wood butt with pistol-grip. Brown, horn butt-plate and pommel. Cased (medium conditions, ripped-off handle), covered with green fabric, cream-color cloth inside, with company's label. length 118 cm.
