A circa 1820 Royal Horse Guards bearskin – the headress of Capt. Edmund Packe (1799-1874), complete with its cotton liner, original tin (for restoration) and stand. Provenance - By descent through the family. Captain Packe was the author of ‘An Historical Record of the Royal Regiment of Horse Guards - or Oxford Blues’ (1834), and the only (or first?) son of the famed Major Robert Packe (of the same regiment), who was killed at Waterloo while leading his squadron of Royal Horse Guards against the 4th Cuirassiers.
