1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-11, BB-161, R.3, AU53 PCGS. Bowers Die State "IV." An unlisted late die state in the Bowers Encyclopedia, but one often seen for the BB-161 variety. At least one even-later die state exists with a descending die crack through ATE of STATES, not seen on this example. Dappled warm-gray toning reveals golden highlights. Traces of mint luster remain on both sides of this attractive About Uncirculated coin, with a sharply struck obverse and equally sharp reverse despite die wear at the margins.
