Hollow baluster goblet with lid Nuremberg, c. 1680 Grey-tinged, very thin-walled glass with demolition. Engraved leaf border on the upper side of the slightly rising disc foot with the edge turned downwards. Hollow baluster shaft between a hollow sphere and two hollow puffs with annular discs. Frontal on the egg-shaped cuppa in matte and blank cut depiction of Joshua and Caleb flanked by baroque flowers. Stylized flower surrounded by garlands on the reverse. Lid with circumferential leaf garland and pommel consisting of two hollow spheres and five disc nodi. H. 30 cm Lit. The characters Joshua and Caleb are particularly well-known from the biblical narrative, in which they explore the land of Canaan as spies and bring a large grape to demonstrate the fertility of the land. Such depictions are not only religious, but also symbolic of abundance and hope.

Auf der Oberseite des leicht ansteigenden Scheibenfu?es mit nach unten umgeschlagenem Rand gravierte Blattbordure. Hohlbalusterschaft zwischen einer Hohlkugel und zwei Hohlpuffen mit Ringscheiben. Frontal auf der eiformigen Kuppa in Matt- und Blankschnitt Darstellung von Joshua and Caleb flankiert von barocken Blumen. Ruckseitig Stilisierte Blume umgeben von Girlanden. Deckel mit umlaufender Blattgirlande und Knauf bestehend aus zwei Hohlkugeln und funf Scheibennodi. H. 30 cm Lit. Jahrhundert waren Glaser mit kunstlerischen Darstellungen, einschlie?lich Szenen aus der Bibel, sehr beliebt. Die Figuren Joshua und Kaleb sind besonders bekannt aus der biblischen Erzahlung, in der sie als Spione das Land Kanaan erkunden und eine gro?e Traube mitbringen, um die Fruchtbarkeit des Landes zu demonstrieren. Solche Darstellungen sind nicht nur religios, sondern auch symbolisch fur Uberfluss und Hoffnung zu interpretieren.
