A FINE AND RARE FULL DRESS ROYAL SCOTS GREYS OFFICER'S BEARSKIN, the black fur body with gilt flaming grenade hackle holder applied with a pierced Royal arms, white feather hackle, silver Hanoverian horse to the back, velvet backed chin chain, the interior with leather band and dated 1895, in its storage tin, the lid applied with owner's name plate to Lieutenant John Fairfax Rhodes, Royal Scots Greys. Rhodes was killed in action on the 18th of February 1902 during the Boer War, his Squadron being cut off and surrounded by the Boers at Klippan.
