Austrian painter and graphic artist of the 20th century of the interwar period. Studied at the arts and crafts school with Anton von Kenner, Franz Cizek and Oskar Strnad. First worked as a graphic artist and illustrator for Arthur Roessler and Josef Luitpold Stern. 1928 to 1938 member of the Hagenbund, from 1946 member of the Vienna Secession. Lived during the Second World War with his Jewish wife in Prague and Brno. 1944 internment to Gräditz concentration camp, 1945 liberation from Soviet troops. Created woodcuts, watercolors, urban images, socially critical work and murals, but also mosaics and graffiti for residential buildings. Early interest in work by Egon Schiele, development between expressionism and new objectivity. In the 1920s and 1930s, woodcuts in the style of the new objectivity, among other things, also erotic motifs. Including explicit representations of lovemaking and physical lust and passion.

Österreichischer Maler und Grafiker des 20. Jahrhunderts v.a. der Zwischenkriegszeit. Studierte an der Kunstgewerbeschule bei Anton von Kenner, Franz Cizek und Oskar Strnad. Arbeitete zunächst v.a. als Grafiker und Illustrator für Arthur Roessler und Josef Luitpold Stern. 1928 bis 1938 Mitglied im Hagenbund, ab 1946 Mitglied der Wiener Secession. Lebte während dem Zweiten Weltkrieg mit seiner jüdischen Frau in Prag und Brünn. 1944 Internierung ins KZ Gräditz, 1945 Befreiung durch sowjetische Truppen. Schuf v.a. Holzschnitte, Aquarelle, Städtebilder, sozialkritische Arbeiten und Wandgemälde, aber auch Mosaike und Graffiti für Wohnbauten. Frühes Interesse an Arbeiten von Egon Schiele, Entwicklung zwischen Expressionismus und Neuer Sachlichkeit. In den 1920er und 1930er Jahren Holzschnitte im Stil der Neuen Sachlichkeit u.a. auch erotische Motive. Darunter auch explizite Darstellungen von Liebesspiel und körperlicher Lust und Leidenschaft.
