A RUSSIAN GARDNER PORCELAIN FIGURINE, LATE 19TH C.


Porcelain figurine of the Gardner factory "A man with a hunk of bread," from the famous series "Pictures of People's Life." Depicts a man in a coat, who sits on a wooden block, takes off his shoes and a hat, and sprinkles salt on a hunk of black bread. The figurine is highly detailed and neatly hand-painted. Marked on the base with a stamp of the Gardner Factory in red ink overglaze, features an incised factory mark and a handwritten number "125."
