A RUSSIAN IMPERIAL PORCELAIN PLATE BABIGON SERVICE 1902


Imperial Porcelain Factory plate from the Babigon Service. Polychrome overglaze painting, gilding. Features a factory stamp with the green monogram of the emperor Nicholas II over the date 1902 on the verso. The Babigon service was made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory in 1823-1824. Originally the service was designed for 100 people and consisted of 1500 pieces intended for the Great Peterhof Palace. In the middle of the 19th century, the kitchenware complex was transferred to the Babigon Pavilion situated near Peterhof.
