PAIR: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, (type 3 reverse), - four clasps - Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902; Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal small version for unsuccessful rescue, with brooch buckle bar suspender. 2013 Tpr E.V.Weston. Doyle's Aust.Scts. on first medal, Ernest V. Weston, 17th June 1917 on second medal. First medal impressed, second medal engraved. The second medal cleaned now re-toning, otherwise very fine.
Tpr Weston confirmed as serving with Doyle's Australian Scouts.

At 9a.m. on the 17th June, 1917, a lad while bathing in a rough sea at Bombay got into difficulty and was carried out about 100 yards. Pestonji M. Batha went in, but was himself drowned. Ernest V. Weston then went in and got the boy out, but he did not recover. In Memoriam to relatives of Batha.
