Herausgegeben von der marxistischen politischen Partei "Sozialdemokratie des Königreichs Polen und Litauen", deren führende Theoretikerin Rosa Luxemburg war. Luxemburg betont in dem Aufsatz die Bedeutung der Feier des 1. Mai und des Achtstundentags als entscheidenden Weg zur Erlangung der politischen Freiheit der Arbeiterklasse. Sie gedenkt der Opfer der ersten Massenstreiks der polnischen Arbeiter in Zyrardów (1883) und Lodz (1892), verweist auf die Bedeutung der Parole des Kommunistischen Manifests "Proletarier aller Länder, vereinigt euch!" und der Zweiten Internationale (1889), analysiert das Verhältnis zwischen der sozialistischen Bewegung und dem zaristischen Staat und schließt mit der Vision des angestrebten proletarischen Staates. Published by the Marxist political party "Social Democracy of the Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania", of which Rosa Luxemburg was the leading theoretician. In the essay, Luxemburg underlines the importance of celebrating May Day and the eight-hour day as the decisive way to achieve political freedom for the working class. She commemorates the victims of the first mass strikes of Polish workers in Zyrardów (1883) and Lodz (1892), refers to the importance of the slogan of the Communist Manifesto "Proletarians of all countries, unite!" and the Second International (1889), analyses the relationship between the socialist movement and the tsarist state, and concludes with the vision of the proletarian state she aspires to.
