A CIZHOU 'FLORAL' SGRAFFIATO VASE, YUHUCHUNPING, JIN DYNASTY 金代磁州窯白釉剔刻花卉紋玉壺春瓶
China, 1115-1234. Rising from a short, splayed foot to a long trumped neck, the pear-shaped body is carved through the white slip to the pale beige-grey ground with a wide and narrow band of boldly incised floral scroll beneath the shoulder, separated and framed by thin lines.

: Very good condition with some old wear and firing flaws, including firing cracks, dark spots, glaze recesses and flakes, minuscule chips to the foot.

Literature comparison:
Cizhou sgraffiato vases of this yuhuchunping shape with the decoration carved through a white slip rather than a dark brown glaze appear to be quite rare. Compare a vase, also with the decoration arranged in bands around the body and neck, illustrated in Song Ceramics from the Kwan Collection, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 1994, no. 197.

金代磁州窯白釉剔刻花卉紋玉壺春瓶
中國，1115-1234年。撇口、細頸、垂腹、圈足，變化柔和的弧線。胎質灰褐，施白化妝土，紋飾部位則剔去白色化妝土，留下灰褐色的底色，描繪出花卉紋，紋飾簡潔，刀工流暢，釉質瑩潤。
