A late 19th century green paste rivière necklace, designed as a line of graduated cushion-shaped

A late 19th century green paste rivière necklace, designed as a line of graduated cushion-shaped mixed-cut green pastes in pinched collet settings, gilt metal mounted, with later extension chain, length 45.5cm Condition report: One of the larger settings has lost its gilt finish, revealing a copper-coloured base metal beneath, possibly caused by a grey solder repair to the adjoining jump ring fitting. The largest setting would have had a loop fitting for the suspension of a pendant; this fitting is missing, with evidence of its prior position to the base of the setting. The remaining settings have scuffs, nicks and chips, with patchy losses to the gilt finish and some thinning to the edges of the settings. The green pastes have surface scuffs, nicks and chips and graduate in size from approximately 13.5mm length x 11mm width to 5.7mm length x 4.8mm width. The clasp is functioning and appears to be original. Length of necklace excluding extension chain approximately 36cm. Gross weight approx. 29gm.
