Quito, Ecuador (under Gran Colombia), gold 1 escudo, 1833 GJ, NGC AU 53+. Seppa/Anderson-74; Sed-1; KM-15; Fr-2. Broad flan with thick but mostly flat rims, choice rainbow toning (mostly red) around details, minimal luster but rather attractive, hence the odd and seldom-seen grade, popular type struck during the brief period when Ecuador was part of Gran Colombia (hence its inclusion in the Sedwick reference).
