UKRAINE. Emissionniy Bank. 3 Rubles, 1941. P-43s. SB1252. Specimen. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
This 3 Rubles specimen belongs to the short-lived monetary design program conceived during the German occupation of Ukraine. Produced in Germany and never authorized for circulation, the note bears official specimen markings and the characteristic DRUCKPROBE perforation. Its austere layout reflects the provisional nature of the planned currency, conceived at a moment when German forces believed they would control the Eastern Front indefinitely. This is one of the denominations we have not yet seen as an 'issued' (i.e. fully printed with regular serial numbers), and the present piece should be considered extremely rare, the only other specimen we have seen being a poor quality scan in the Schwan-Boling reference. PMG Comments "Printer's Annotations, Previously Mounted."

From the Al Kugel Collection.
