AMENDMENT TO CATALOGUE. FRAGMENTED , Interesting Avar kelim, Daghestan, north east Caucasus, second half 19th century, 10ft. 5in. x 5ft. 3.17m. x 1.52m. Some wear, holes and splits. An interesting kelim with the two large blue `star`-type central medallions with a central column of red simplified rukzals (`dragon`) motifs; framing the central medallions are two columns of highly stylized people in various colours, repeated in the central octagons; myriad filler ornaments of animals, water ewers, flowering shrubs and geometric motifs. IMPORTANT NOTICE: THIS KELIM HAS BEEN CUT AND SHUT. IT HAS BEEN REDUCED IN LENGTH BY A HORIZONTAL CUT AT THE LOWER END.
