Magnificent Apulian Red-Figured Hydria, ca. 350-325 B.C. Superior Condition, Excellent Provenance. Outstanding Late Classical Greek, red figure hydria (water jar) South Italian Apulian ca. 350-325 in stunning condition. The red-figure technique was developed in Athens around 530 B.C. where the figures are left in the natural reddish color of the clay while the background is filled in with black glaze. Then details are meticulously drawn with fine lines of black paint as can be seen in the nude male servant figure on the left and the woman of means on the right. No evidence of restoration or repairs. 13 x 10 x 10"
