The watermark in the paper is 'Der große Reichsapfel mit Strich und Stern' and can be dated ca. 1523. Provenance: - Ex-collection Karl Edouard von Liphart (1808-1891), Dorpat, Bonn and Florence (collection stamp on the reverse). In his sale of 5 December 1876 different Durer prints were offered. - Ex-collection Peter Gellatly (1831-1912), London and Essex (collection stamp on the reverse). In his sale of 13-18 Mai 1911 different Durer prints were offered. - Ex-collection Gottfried Eissler (1862-1924), Vienna (collection stamp on the reverse). In his sale of 8-10 November 1921 different Durer prints were offered. - Private collection, the Netherlands.
