GREEK ART, CAMPANIA, circa 470-430 BC
Attributed to the Owl-Pillar Group.
Red-figured hydria whose body is decorated with a scene depicting Athena on a kline holding an owl in her left hand, facing a standing ephebe draped in a himation. To the left of this scene, a maid stands, touching the headdress of the seated woman. The scene rests on a base line adorned with a frieze of Greek and checkerboard motifs. The neck is adorned with a stylized lotus bud. Black-glazed beige clay. Visible restorations.
