One volume in-4, full contemporary basane, 6-rib spine, fleurons on the caissons, double framing of the covers by a gilt fillet, coat of arms in the center of the first plate. (32)-109-(3)-133-(3)-113-(3)-(8)-399-(3)-253-(35)-259 pp. Old restored binding, wear, rubbing, scattered foxing. Light wetness on the margin of part of the book. A few small ink stains on the edge, not serious.
First edition of this collection of charters and titles serving as evidence for the history of Bresse and Bugey. 172 engraved coats-of-arms in the text. Samuel Guichenon, French historian and genealogist (1607-1664) was historiographer of France, and worked on Bresse and Savoie. An esteemed work, copies of which are rare (Brunet).
Bound with the arms of Notre-Dame de Citeaux Abbey on the 1st board: "Azure semé de fleur-de-lis d'or; à l'écusson de Bourgogne ancien, brochant sur le tout, qui est: bandé d'or et d'azur de six pièces et à la bordure de gueules"; legend "Bibliothecae Beatae Mariae Cistercii".
