A Persian Steel Kulah Khud, And Associated Dhal Qajar, 19th Century The first with domed skull etched with calligraphic cartouches within gold-damascened line borders, the rim bordered en suite between cartouches enclosing a repeated animal, the front embossed with a demon's ( Div ) face with gold-damascened eyebrows, fitted with gold-damascened horns, central spike of diamond section and adjustable nasal, and vandyked camail of butted rings (some wear overall); the second of convex circular form with reinforced border, the outer surface chiselled with four cartouches containing a Persepolitan horseman, each with gold-damascened border and centred on an embossed and chased human face, and with four gold-damascened bosses each chiselled with four flower-heads, the outer border chiselled with gold-damascened calligraphic cartouches and further horsemen, all against a ground of foliage inhabited by tigers, hares and pairs of partridges (2) 27 cm. high and 39.5 cm. diam.
