A gold and hardstone snuff box, probably English, circa 1720/30, of shaped oval form, the hinged lid centred with an agate panel, within a gold frame chased with birds and a barking dog, against a stippled ground, between diaperwork panels, the concave sides chased with a running fox, hare and hounds, the base inset with agate panel (possibly later replaced), unmarked, length 7.0cm. £3,000-£3,600 --- Condition Report Box in good condition, light surface wear to the gold mounts, commensurate with age, No visible damage or chips to the agate panels - the agate panel to the base possibly replaced - no bezelled edge as the top panel, and very slightly bowed rather than flat. Gross weight 77.6gm.
