Ex George Ramont 3/21/1972-Jules Reiver, Heritage Auctions 1/24/2006:19300-Walter J. Husak Collection.

Julius "Jules" Reiver was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on September 25, 1916, and died there on February 11, 2004. Reiver was a collector and researcher who formed an extensive die variety collection of copper and silver coins, nearly completing collections in all denominations. He was a veteran of World War II, an engineer, and worked many years in the family carpet business. He retired from the Army Reserve in 1966 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Reiver participated in the 1985 Coinage of the Americas Conference and published several variety reference guides, including the original late date cent reference that has revolutionized attribution of that series. He originated the date reference number system for attributing the late date varieties. Reiver discovered the 1797 NC-7 large cent variety. Heritage sold the Reiver Collection in January 2006.
