John Jaques & Son, ebony & boxwood chess set.


A complete boxwood and ebony chess set with board. Circa 1851. Includes documented authentication. Pieces are in original Staunton style by Jaques & Son of Holborn, England. Pieces are weighted. Half the set is carved ebony, other half carved boxwood, includes sixteen pawns, four rooks, four knights, four bishops, two kings, two queens. There are a few cracks in the pawns and king of the ebony pieces. Board has carpet squares attached to bottom. Smallest: 2 1/4" x 1 3/8". Largest: 4 1/4" x 2". Chess board open: 24" x 24" x 1" Chess board closed: 12" x 24" x 2".
