1962 Imperial LeBaron Limousine Chassis no. 9 323 211 300 Engine no. TBC

1962 Imperial LeBaron Limousine Registration no. Not UK Registered Chassis no. 9 323 211 300 Engine no. TBC Odometer reading: 87,212 MOT: Exempt *Top-of-the-range model *Believed bodied by Carrozzeria Ghia *Present ownership since 2005 Originally an up-market Chrysler, Imperial was registered as a marque in its own right in 1954, a move which enabled the corporation to develop a separate identity for the cars. The Crown Imperial was Chrysler's top-of-the-range and most exclusive model. A direct competitor to Cadillac, it was manufactured in relatively limited numbers. In the immediate post-war years though, the conservatively styled Imperials looked little different from mainstream Chryslers. The latter were virtually identical to those of 1942, and not until 1949 did a new look appear, based on that of the Chrysler New Yorker. In 1953 Chrysler acquired Briggs Manufacturing's body plants in a deal that also included LeBaron, the celebrated and influential styling studio and coachbuilders, but it was not until 1957 that the famous name appeared again on a motor car, gracing the most expensive of the Imperial line-up. In 1962, when this car was made, the only Imperial LeBaron on offer was a four-door, six-seater hardtop. The accompanying invoice from Touring Garage AG of Oberwenngen, Switzerland - issued when the current owner bought the car in June 2005 - describes it as a 'Chrysler Imperial by Ghia', suggesting that the famous Italian coachbuilders Carrozzeria Ghia may have been responsible for the limousine conversion. The car also comes with a Swiss Carte Grise. Offering grace, pace and comfort, this ultimate luxury limousine is guaranteed to turn heads admiringly wherever it goes. This LeBaron has been on static display for a number of years and as such will require recommissioning prior to road use.
