Grenadier Guards Officer's sword A fine example of the 1834 pattern Officer's Sword by Wilkinson, the blade numbered 63861. The blade is etched with the Grenadier Guards flaming grenade device surmounted bya Crown and with battle honours. To base of the blade, the initials, also with GVR crowned cypher and further battle honours. Open guard has a Grenadier Guards device. Sword contained in polished steel scabbard. Sword and blade in near parade condition, scabbard with blistering to the plating. Near VGC._ _ E375-425 The sword was purchased by M.S.B.Vernon February 1933. Mervyn Sydney Bobus Vernon was commissioned into the Grenadier Guards 1933 Lt 1936, Capt 1940 Hon Major in the 1946 List. He was awarded the MVO.
